Voodoo Queen (Woman of Power)

oil painting of a Voodoo Queen (Woman of Power) by Christine Mitzuk

Voodoo Queen (Woman of Power)

Media: oil on sealed and gessoed hardboard, acrylic underpainting
Shop: Prints available. buy a 8″x10″ limited edition print
Original: 11″x14″
Status: Sold, private collection.
I created this original oil painting in 2015.
The painting was published in “Infected by Art Volume 4” in 2016.
The preparatory drawing for this piece is in a private collection.

Note added August 7, 2020: If you saw a “fan art” Marie Laveau tv show concept floating around on the internet, I did not create it nor did I authorize it. Someone digitally manipulated an image of my Voodoo Queen painting. I have addressed the issue and contacted the person responsible. I do have to admit that I think a Marie Laveau spin-off featuring Angela Bassett would be really cool.
