My new mixed media fantasy art piece is inspired by the model’s fabulous mushroom hat. I drew the figure from life during the Costumed Figure Drawing and Painting class I teach, and then invented the mushrooms. I painted it with watercolor, some gouache, and then inked the lines. I love the sound of a metal dip pen on paper and playing with ink line.

- Bristol board, vellum surface
- Pencil
- Watercolor
- Gouache
- Ink (Higgin’s brown, fadeproof ink)
Is it perfect? No. Was that the point? No. Do I like how it turned out? Yes. Did I learn some things and enjoy making it? Yes.
